GLOBALG.AP Chain of Custody Requirements

GlobalG.AP Chain of Custody

The traceability of certified agricultural products is becoming an increasingly important issue. This is precisely the objective of the GLOBALG.AP Chain of Custody (CoC) standard: to ensure that products bearing a GLOBALG.AP certificate actually come from certified farms, and that their integrity is preserved throughout the supply chain.

What is the GLOBALG.AP Chain of Custody?

The GLOBALG.AP Chain of Custody (or CoC) standard applies to processing, packaging, distribution or logistics companies that handle GLOBALG.AP certified products.

It guarantees:

  • Complete traceability of the product from the farm to the point of sale
  • Certified product integrity, no mixing with non-certified batches
  • Rigorous document management at every stage

In other words, this standard helps to strengthen the confidence of customers and consumers in the certified supply chain.

A reinforced verification obligation

Given the requirements of the GLOBALG.AP Chain of Custody standard, it is essential to systematically verify the certification status of all GLOBALG.AP certified suppliers.

This verification is essential for:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with the standard
  • Ensure the traceability of certified products
  • Reduce the risk of non-compliance in the event of an external audit

A verification that is still too manual

Today, in many companies, this step still relies on a manual process:

  • GGN search by GGN (GLOBALG.AP Number) on the public GLOBALG.AP database
  • Management in an internal Excel database, often poorly automated and difficult to keep up to date

This mode of operation takes up a lot of time for quality or purchasing teams, and exposes them to human errors or critical oversights.
